Company Drinks is about going picking and making drinks, as much as it is about asking questions about what local food production means..... Throughout 2018 we are hosting monthly communal lunches to enjoy local food and to unpack some of the politics behind its production...

The idea is to share food and share ideas, over a series of short presentations about the politics of food… Do they affect how we eat, play, socialise and think in Barking and Dagenham?

For the first lunch of the year we have invited Toni Lötter from Organic Ilford who offer access to affordable organic food by supporting small-scale local and regional organic farms by paying farmers a fair and consistent price for their produce, helping them stay in business.

The idea that we eat locally grown food is liked by most people, and we want to look into the reality and politics of how it actually works. Toni will also talk about why they trade in  organic food, and what organic growing means for the land and to us as consumers and our purse?

This is an invite only event, please contact us if you’re interested in taking part,

The Digesting Politics Monthly Lunches are delivered by Company Drinks with support from Barking & Dagenham Renew. The lunches are also part of a UK wide series of community food events called ‘Digesting Politics’,  co-organised with the artist run group Keep It Complex.
