All Welcome - hop-pickers have priority

The programme for the day includes local hopping history talks, guided walks and picking sessions and a Hopping Afternoon from 3-6pm at the Hoppers Hospital itself - with music, food, exhibitions, games and short talks. This should be a nice afternoon to mix old and new ‘picking’ memories and stories from east Londoners, today’s pickers and Kentish farmers.

This summer we are organising an extra trip to Kent, to visit the Hoppers Hospital in Five Oak Green near Paddock Wood. In the past the Hoppers Hospital supplied free health care for the seasonal hop-pickers. Today it is a community space and offers holiday accommodation for families from east London.
