Let’s go outdoors for a nature walk around Barking Park and explore its wild variety through an LGBTQ+ lens. We’ll be identifying trees, looking for birds and witnessing the beauty of queer ecology first hand. This workshop will be an opportunity to learn about the multitude of identities and possibilities that can be found in nature.

Susy runs Queer As Funghi leading foraging walks and creative workshops for trans, queer and intersex people. They are interested in how our relationship with nature can be a reciprocal one rather than an extractive one, and how this relationship can support queer mental health and community care. They work as a grower and an art therapist in Hackney, and run the project Young Rotters which aims to connect young marginalised people to nature through gardening and composting.

Important info: We’ll meet at 12 noon for a warm drink before we head out for the walk. Hot food will be provided after the walk if you’d like to stick around. Please check the weather, wear suitable walking shoes, and wrap up warm/bring waterproofs. If the weather is too wet or cold we’ll host an indoor event in the Company Drinks Kitchen so come along!
