Making community by making drinks together.
Our latest new drink Fruits of Aurora is a beautiful example by what we mean with this.
The berries for this drink drink were picked by members from the Dandelion Circles group, on a nice sunny day in August in Eastbrookend Country Park in Dagenham. We had just finished a workshop with Golden Sankofa on community stewardship, and the things and values we hold in common. Cherishing nature and actively making things together in an accessible and welcoming way were two of the outcomes.
What better way to collectively pick blackberries, to honour the abundance of nature, and to enjoy a few hours in good company whilst picking in chatting.
At our community kitchen we later mixed the blackberries locally picked apple juice and some lavender from the our very own Grow Club. With added sugar it was then alchemised into a mystical and magical and delicious drink, which is now available at our events and bars.
The design was brainstormed collaboratively and translated into a stunning label by Dandelion Sarina Mantle.
Community + nature + picking + flavours + care = Fruits of Aurora.
