A Hopping Afternoon about the special hop related history of Valence House
The “Fanshawes and Breweries” talk by Deirdre Marculescu is going to reveal less known connections between Valence House and the world of breweries. Lords of the Manor of Barking from 1630 to 1857 and previous owners of the Valence estate, the Fanshawe family had major connections with brewers in London and abroad. Deirdre Marculescu will be talking about these connections and take a special look at a wedding dress with embroidery inspired by the hop plant!
