Monthly informal meeting to share social histories and community heritage. Led by Pip Field.
The Hopping Afternoons started in May 2014 and have been running every month since. They grew out of the very first hop-picking reminiscing sessions at Valence House, with the support of the Local Archives team, who shared records and photos of the local hop-picking heritage. The Hopping Afternoons have since become a friendly and informal monthly meet-up, led by Pip Field, and activities vary and include local social history, guest speakers, self-led reminiscing sessions and sometimes trips elsewhere.
