Join us at Valence House, where we'll be getting together to reminisce on previous hop-picking experiences. This Saturday we sharing our stories of Plotlands in Essex, and what they mean to the residents of Barking and Dagenham.....
Plotlands were where Eastenders bought small plots of land to use at weekends originally camping in tents while they built huts for their weekend and summer stays so they had their own pieces of countryside to grow veg and flowers. It’s very much like the hopping community and went on until the 1980’s. We may even try to arrange a trip out to some Plotlands in future….
We’ll also be discussing ideas for the Valence House Green Fayre, so come along if you’d like to get involved.
