Rosehips are the flavour of winter, the sweet fruit of the rose plant, these hips are packed with Vitamin C and have a delicious fruity flavour, a great addition for a syrup for the winter months. We went out in November 2024 to collect these bright red hips from wild rose bushes in Goodmayes park, they were picked on a crisp autumn afternoon. During the picking session we talked about other foragables growing in our green space. In this session we will show you how to turn the rose fruit into a tangy and tasty syrup, you will learn the process of creating a drink, and how you can use it in many recipes, you will also learn some tips to turn your food waste into a delicious meal and leave with a bottle of the finished drink at the end of the session. This session will be joined with a Love Food Hate Waste cooking workshop run by Dilip and Sushant from LBBD council, and Shaun from Company Drinks

We will be starting the day by preparing the rose hips by boiling them down and breaking apart their amazing flavour.

We will then start learning how to cook delicious meals with our regular kitchen leftovers, being led by Dilip. Participants are more than welcome to share their tips on creative recipes from general leftovers and how they prevent food waste in their homes. We then stop for lunch to taste the amazing food we have just made and after, bottle up the cordial from the morning.

This event brings together collaborative cooking and drinks-making using local and wild healthy ingredients.

This is a free workshop but you will need to sign up beforehand, please contact Shaun@companydrinks.info for more information or to sign up click Here
