LBBD Park Rangers

Wassailing is an old tradition of blessing apple orchards for a fruitful harvest in the summer, it involves lots of song, noise and drinking of apple juice. Join us and LBBD Park Rangers to celebrate our own boroughs community orchards, we will be serving up a delicious warm spiced apple juice punch (non alcoholic) whilst we sing songs, make noise and do family crafts, you may even meet the green man himself. Feel free to dress up and bring and percussive instruments you might have to wake up the trees ready for another year of growing

There will be a schedule of events taking place throughout the day around the orchard including:

  • Craft activities for childrens and adults alike
  • Find out which is your nearest local Community Orchard in the borough (there are several!) and sign up to take part in future volunteer sessions to care for the fruit trees
  • Colourful Wassail characters
  • The Wassail Ceremony – involving tree decorating, music, song and general ‘noise-making’ to wake up the trees from their winter dormancy
  • Hot Wassail drinks provided by Company Drinks

You can also visit the Eastbrookend Tea Rooms to buy additional tasty hot & cold snacks and drinks.
